Traffic Safety & Dangers of Impaired Driving

The Dixon Police Department is committed to promoting traffic safety and protecting our community from the dangers of impaired driving.

Impaired driving is a serious issue that puts the lives of everyone on the road at risk. Whether it's alcohol, drugs, or prescription medication, operating a vehicle while under the influence can impair your judgment, reaction time, and ability to drive safely.

To address this issue, the Dixon Police Department has increased its efforts to identify and stop impaired drivers. Our officers are trained to detect signs of impairment and will take appropriate action to remove dangerous drivers from the road.

We also encourage all residents to do their part in promoting traffic safety by following these tips:

  • Plan ahead and designate a sober driver before drinking or using drugs.
  • Call a taxi, rideshare, or public transportation instead of driving if you have been drinking or using drugs.
  • Report suspected impaired drivers to the police by calling 911. Provide a description of the vehicle, its location, and the direction it is traveling.
  • Buckle up every time you get in a vehicle, as seat belts are the best defense against impaired drivers.

Together, we can make our roads safer and prevent the devastating consequences of impaired driving. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 707-678-7080 or 911 in emergencies.

Stay safe and drive sober!
