The staff at the Dixon Police Department is shining a little brighter than usual in October. The Dixon Police and Dixon Police Officers’ Association (DPOA) are participating in the Pink Patch Project to raise awareness about breast cancer. This October, Dixon officers are showing their support for awareness by sporting pink police patches on their uniforms.
The Pink Patch Project is a public awareness campaign where law enforcement agencies around the United States use pink versions of their agencies' patches to encourage conversations with community members about breast cancer. By participating in the Pink Patch Project, law enforcement agencies help to increase awareness about breast cancer; raise funds for research in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure; and offer support and encouragement to those affected by the devastating disease.
Members of the public interested in this fundraising event can contact the DPOA at dixonpoa1945@gmail.com to purchase collectible pink Dixon PD patches for $10.00. The DPOA will donate all of the proceeds to a local 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides personal care and support to breast and ovarian cancer patients and their families.
A special thanks to In-Stitches, a proud local Dixon business (https://www.facebook.com/institches450/), for helping get Dixon Police stitched up and ready to roll.
